The 31st annual California State Fair Commercial Craft Brew Competition took place April 30 – May 3, 2026, at Cal Expo, where a panel of 39 certified judges led by Lead Judge David Teckam evaluated nearly 700 beers across a wide range of styles. Entries were judged on aroma, appearance, flavor, and mouthfeel.

Best of Show Craft Brew for 2026 was awarded to Malibu Brewing Company for its Hatch Green Chile Lager. The 2026 Brewery of the Year winner is Urban Roots, a Sacramento favorite that earned an impressive seven medals, including four Gold, one Silver, and two Bronze. Fairgoers and beer enthusiasts alike will have the opportunity to enjoy selections from both the Brewery of the Year and Best of Show winners in the California State Fair Beer Garden.
